25 years old
IJmuden, The Netherlands
Singer Songwriter, Italian literature and culture student.
How did you start with music?
When I got my guitar, I was 17 years old, but I sang already since I was a child.
Then I graduated in 2009 at the Conservatory here in Amsterdam, at the Pop Department. I studied Pop Singing and Guitar, Singing as main subject and Guitar as a side instrument.
I'm a singer-songwriter.
What are your influences in music?
I like Nick Drake, Damien Rice, Iron & Wine.
My first inspiration was Bright Eyes and their singer Conor Obrest.
Rock music, pop and even metal.
I used to play bass in a trash metal band!
What's this thing about Italy?
My mum is Italian, so I always felt connected to Italy and therefore I want to improve my Italian language skills and deepen myself into the cultural side.
I want to sing in Italian, but I'd like to be more able to express myself.
This year I started at UVA, Italian Language and Culture.
It's more theoretical than Conservatory, where you have to practice and play a lot, to perform.
How is to be a musician in the Netherlands?
It's a lot about who you know. Then you can have a certain number of gigs!
In 2008 I won the Grote Prijs Van Nederland, a music contest and since then I made an album coming out now, I have a manager and somebody booking gigs for me.
I can make a living out of it and I can express myself on a creative side.
This is a very good thing!
But Holland is also focused on quality: you have to be good!

I love this song. I always get excited when I play it. Excited I mean, not sexually!
Make me whole
Blinded
This is another love song. Actually they are all love songs. No, there are some which aren't!

What are you drinking?
With Fabiana we drink Cedrata Tassoni, a vintage kind of soft drink very popular in Italian bars in the 70's.
www.cedraltassoni.it
It's made of cedar, lemon tree with particular sweet taste and fizzy bubbles, served fresh with ice and with a green lemon kiss colour!
I'm drinking a kind of Sprite. It's sparkling, light and sweet.
Cozy!
Fabiana Dammers will start her tour on the 15th of October.
